First-time parents readily accept the conventional wisdom that says pink is for girls and blue for boys, but this is absolutely not true when decorating today's nursery. Nurseries can be found using all kinds of red color parings and red shades go with virtually any other color well.

Reds can be combined in many shades to create an entirely red themed nursery. Kindergarten teachers say that younger children generally like bright red, especially boys, who often have a fascination with fire engines and red cars.

You can add more pizzazz to the nursery by adding red toys or decorations such as a non-skid rug that's just right for when your baby learns to crawl. When decorating a boy's room, many design elements can be emphasized when starting with red and black crib bedding. In addition to variations of one color in the room, it's also possible to combine a solid or two with a variety of bold prints because you can find bedding ensembles that will have just what you need to accomplish that.

To decorate on a budget, but still have the ability to purchase high-quality products, linen sets readily available in stores today are a good option. Red is a visually exciting, attention grabbing color, drawing your little boy's attention to anything from little red tugboats to giant red Ferris wheels or whatever red motifs are part of your baby boy bedding. It is acceptable to use red bedding in you son's nursery.

Once your baby is strong enough to grip, pull or climb, you'll need to remove the mobile and crib bumper, but until then, the mobile provides hours of entertainment and the bumper is harmless so long as it is thin and well secured. There are few colors more attractive to both parents and children than bright red in the nursery.

Crib sets needs to be carefully selected as to not have pillows and quilts that can be potential hazards for the child. Red bedding words well with many nursery themes and can be found in all sorts of kid friendly patterns and designs. When you see a happy mom, chances are you will also see a happy baby.
